THE UNIVERSITAT POLITÈCNICA DE CATALUNYA INVITES EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FROM CANDIDATES IN THE 2024 UPC SENIOR SERRA HÚNTER PROGRAMME CALL

General description of the Programme

The Senior Serra Húnter Programme recruits candidates for Distinguished Serra Húnter Professor posts to cover the teaching, research, transfer and high-level leadership needs of Catalan public universities.

Professors selected for the Senior Serra Húnter Programme must be from academic institutions outside Spain and demonstrate academic leadership capacity, meeting criteria of excellence and international recognition for their scientific and technological contributions.

Characteristics of the Programme

• Type of contract: Distinguished Serra Húnter Professor
• Term of the contract: 5 years maximum
• Amount awarded: €75,000 gross/year
• Teaching load: 150 teaching hours/year
• At the end of the contract, after obtaining the corresponding accreditation of University Professor or Contracted Professor, he/she will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent teaching position CU/CC, in accordance with the provisions of the UPC's Chairs Plan.

Objectives of the call for applications

• The UPC is calling for applications from candidates for the year 2024 (start of employment in 2025). 
• All candidates must be able to provide talent and leadership to the UPC.
• The UPC will select the best three applications from those received.
• The UPC will submit these three applications to the Senior Serra Húnter Programme of the corresponding year, and the Serra Húnter Programme will assess and select the final candidate following its criteria of excellence.

Areas:

• 2 positions in the following specialities of Mathematics: Mathematical Physics/Symplectic Geometry/Partial Differential Equations and Combinatorics
• 1 position in the following specialities of Materials Science: Plastics and Polymers

Documents to be submitted by candidates:

• Full academic CV that demonstrates high-level leadership capacity in the field.
• Certificate from the academic institution outside Spain at which the candidate is currently employed stating their academic post.
• Declaration regarding their willingness to join the UPC if they are selected.

All documents must be in English.
